Empowering Children through Education for a Brighter Future
In 2014, Healing Focus Orphanage Centre established Healing Children Primary Schoolwith the mission to provide quality, accessible education to vulnerable children in Uganda. Fully registered with the Government of Uganda (Registration No. 2), the school currently serves 250 students, both boys and girls, offering them an opportunity to thrive academically.
The school operates under a free private primary education program, strictly adhering to the National Primary Curriculum of Uganda. Our educational program spans Primary One to Primary Seven and places a strong emphasis on core subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. With regular term assessments, we ensure that students are consistently monitored, giving them the necessary support to achieve their learning goals.
Upon completing Primary Seven, students take the National Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Those who excel are eligible to advance to the O’ Level stage, which opens up further educational and career pathways. To date, over 1,000 students have graduated from our school, and many have gone on to become productive and responsible citizens, contributing positively to Uganda's future.
Addressing the Challenges of Universal Primary Education in Uganda
While Uganda's Universal Primary Education (UPE) policy offers free education for all, it comes with significant challenges that undermine the quality of learning. These challenges include:
- Lack of school meals, leaving children hungry and unable to focus.
- Inadequate furniture, forcing many students to sit on the floor, impacting comfort and concentration.
- Limited access to healthcare, leaving students without necessary medical care when they fall ill.
- Shortage of scholastic materials, such as books, pens, and exercise books, hindering learning progress.
Healing Children Primary School: Meeting the Needs of Our Students
Healing Children Primary School goes beyond the limitations of the national system by addressing these challenges and ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed:
- Nutritious meals are provided daily, ensuring that students are healthy, energized, and focused during school hours.
- Every child is provided with desks and chairs, creating a comfortable, conducive environment for learning.
- Basic healthcare services are available to ensure that any health concerns are addressed promptly, supporting students' well-being.
- We ensure that scholastic materials are available in sufficient quantities for all students, allowing them to fully engage in their studies and reach their potential.
